Learn traditional or modern upholstery and sewing skills on our courses
Roman Blind courses on May 19th and May 28th
Upholstery courses are taught by Jan, Vicky and Ann at our purpose built workshop in Almondbury under the name of Manorhouse School of Upholstery. We are only a mile from Huddersfield town centre and are easy to find with plenty of parking onsite. Jan is City and Guild qualified and previously taught upholstery courses and sewing courses for Kirklees College.
Students work in small groups, with mixed abilities and ages. New students are encouraged to begin with a small item of furniture such as a drop in seat, a small footstool, or even a headboard. If you have a larger or more difficult item that requires re-upholstering speak to Jan first to make arrangements and to check suitability. All equipment is available to use, but students are welcome to bring their own tools if they prefer. Students can bring their own item of furniture or help can be provided to find a suitable item from the school's own supply for a small cost.
Advice and teaching is very hands on and practical and students will learn at their own pace in a friendly and fun environment. Students with no experience are welcome and will be taught the basic upholstery skills required to progress to a complete upholstery project. Students with some experience and a desire to refine skills or learn new techniques are equally welcome.
Both modern and traditional techniques can be learnt. So if you or a friend would like to learn to upholster in a friendly environment contact Jan using the details below, or visit the main website at https://www.manorhouseupholstery.net
We have also introduced gift vouchers so if you want to buy a present for a family member or friend that will see them learn a new skill and meet new people call Jan for details.
